Susanne Gamas Vis

I am from Valencia, Spain, and obtained my BS in Biotechnology from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. After a summer internship at Technion Israel Institute of Technology, I moved to Utrecht, the Netherlands, to pursue a MS in Cancer, Stem Cells and Developmental Biology. As part of my MS, I studied the role of microglia in the development of diffuse midline glioma (DMG) by establishing DMG-microglia co-cultures. This work made me realize my passion for understanding the cross-talk between tumor and immune cells and how to use this knowledge to develop novel therapeutic strategies. I joined the Kersten lab for my final MS internship to study how tumor-derived microparticles contribute to macrophage reprogramming in the pre-metastatic lung. Outside the lab, I enjoy sports and other outdoor activities and spending time with my family and friends.
